Information we collect in connection with our insights and research projects
As an insight and strategy consultancy, we carry out research on behalf of our clients. We do so in accordance with applicable laws, as well as relevant industry standards and codes of practice (such as the Market Research Society (MRS) Code of Conduct).
We typically work with recruiters who help us find respondents for our specific research projects. We will receive personal data relating to those respondents either from the recruitment agency, or from the respondents themselves. The information we collect relating to respondents will vary depending on the nature of the research we are undertaking, but will generally include respondents' names, contact information and their responses to the questions we (or the recruiter) asks them.
Generally, the recruiter will only share as much personal data with us as we need to perform our research and to report back to our client, and we will anonymise and aggregate personal data in the report we share with the client who has commissioned us to carry out the research.Note that we, or the recruiter, may also record focus groups and share those recordings with the relevant client, where we have your consent to do so.
We will retain respondents' personal data for such defined period of time as we agree with our clients, or as otherwise recommended by the MRS Code of Conduct.
From a data protection perspective, we and the recruiter are generally independent (or sometimes joint) controllers of your personal data. Our client may also be a controller of your personal data. We will have arrangements in place between us to ensure that we handle all personal data in accordance with data protection laws.
Respondents participate in our research projects voluntarily. When respondents sign up, they will be provided (either by us or the recruiter) with more specific information about the project and how their personal data will be handled in connection with it. At that point, recipients will be asked to consent to the processing of their personal data in connection with the research. Our client's identity is typically not disclosed to recipients until the end of their participation in the research, as agreed with the client and in accordance with the MRS Code of Conduct.
